Nas Announces Mythical ‘Lost Tapes II’ Is On The Way [Video]

Nas Announces Mythical ‘Lost Tapes II’ Is On The Way [Video]

At long last. Today (June 11), Queensbridge rapper Nas announced that the long-awaited, long-delayed The Lost Tapes II album is finally manifesting.

Using the proper modicum of Hip-Hop communication in 2019, social media, Nas took to Instagram to show off what looks like a fossilize tape that has “The Lost Tapes II” etched into the front.

Back in 2015, Nas said the aforementioned project would drop in 2016 which lead to ire from fans when it never happened, with plenty of blaming going to his label Def Jam. Instead we got the Kanye West-produced NASIR in 2018, which came and went with little fanfare after much overhype.

Considering how loved The Lost Tapes is, the re-up should be a winner considering Nas is known for vaulting dope material. No word on an exact release date, yet, though.

This summer, Nas and Mary J. Blige are co-headlining an American tour.

Floyd Mayweather sat at the top of the list of Forbes‘ 2018 highest-paid athletes list, due in part to his super fight with mixed martial artist, Conor McGregor, and taking home $285 million. For this year’s list, soccer star Lionel Messi takes the top spot with Money Mayweather falling off the entire top 100 listings altogether.

Forbes writes:

Forbes today released its annual ranking of the World’s 100 Highest-Paid athletes, who collectively earned $4 billion over the last 12 months, up 5% from last year’s earnings of $3.8 billion. Lionel Messi was named the world’s highest-paid athlete for the first time, up from second place last year, with $127 million in total earnings. Messi unseats Floyd Mayweather, who held the crown last year, and was the leader four times in seven years. Behind Messi is longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo (No. 2), who earned $109 million between his salary and endorsements. Serena Williams (No. 63) returned to the ranking, after no women appeared in 2018. Cost of admission to the 2019 list is the highest ever at $25 million, up $2.1 million from the previous year. Endorsement income experienced an increase of 12.5% to $987 million this year.

At number three keeping with the football theme, Neymar checks in followed by Canelo Alvarez and Roger Federer at the four and five spots respectively. Russell Wilson and LeBron James find themselves in the top 10.

Stephen A. Smith Blasts Nick Nurse For Late-Game Timeout: Watch

Stephen A. Smith Blasts Nick Nurse For Late-Game Timeout: Watch

The Toronto Raptors were just three minutes away from winning their first ever NBA Title on Monday night as they had a 103-97 lead against the Golden State Warriors. That's when Raptors head coach Nick Nurse decided to call a timeout which had many around the NBA scratching their heads. The Raptors had all the momentum at that point in the game and after the timeout, the Warriors were able to come back and go on a 9-0 run. Of course, the Warriors ended up winning the game by a score of 106-105 and Nurse's timeout immediately became one of the scapegoats of the game.

Stephen A. Smith went on ESPN's First Take this morning and lambasted the Raptors head coach for disrupting the team's flow in the late stages of the game. After the match, Nurse said he used the timeout because he didn't want to lose it, although Smith called BS on that, stating "You were about to win the championship in 3 minutes, okay. And you disrupted it."

Smith then went on to say that the timeout cost the Raptors the win and a championship on home court. The Raptors will have two more opportunities to win the series including on Thursday night in Game 6 which takes place in Oakland.

Game five of the NBA Finals was a barn burner that went down to the wire with both the Golden State Warriors and the hosting Toronto Raptors going to blows in a quest for victory. With his squad facing elimination, Kevin Durant made a valiant return to the court on Monday (June 10) but suffered a tough injury just as things were heating up.

NBA.com reports:

Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers was openly emotional when he told media members after the game that the injury was to Durant’s right Achilles. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski report that the team fears Tuesday’s MRI will reveal the injury to be a tear of the Achilles tendon, the same injury that kept DeMarcus Cousins out of action for one year.

Myers was teary when he gave the news after Game 5 of The Finals on Monday night. While the MRI will reveal exactly the extent of Durant’s injury, his season is clearly over and his recovery will likely take several months if the Achilles is indeed torn.

“He’s one of the most misunderstood people,” Myers said. “He’s a good teammate, he’s a good person, it’s not fair. I’m lucky to know him. I don’t have all the information on what really the extent of what it all means until we get a MRI, but the people that worked with him and cleared him are good people, they’re good people.”

Myers added in the post-game discussion that if fingers are pointing at anyone, they should be aimed at him and the department he runs.
